Typhoon Goni strikes Japan

(NTV) Typhoon Goni slammed the southern Japanese islands of Okinawa Monday.

Strong wind and heavy rain flipped cars and knocked down telephone polls in the city of Ishigaki.

At least five people were injured by broken glass in the city.

A local utility firm said more than 21,000 households on Ishigaki and other remote islands lost electricity.

Typhoon Goni is the fifteenth typhoon of the season.
