SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – A section of Wilbraham Road in Springfield was closed Monday afternoon due to a car accident that led to a brush fire.
Springfield Fire Department spokesman Dennis Leger told 22News the crash involved two cars, a Honda Civic and a Nissan Altima. One of the cars flipped on its side while the other ended up next to a utility pole near 585 Wilbraham Road at around 3:15 P.M.
A spark from one of the cars started a brush fire, but Leger said firefighters were able to put the fire out quickly.
Both men were taken to the hospital. The extent of their injuries is unknown at this time.
