The police are asking residents to be vigilant

PITTSFIELD  Mass. (WWLP) – Police in the Berkshire County city of Pittsfield have put out an advisory to their community after a rise in home and car break-ins.

The police are asking residents to be vigilant. If you see something, say something. Police say break-ins have been reported in broad daylight and on the weekends.

Some tips to keep you from becoming a victim:

  • lock your doors and windows
  • don’t leave valuables in plain sight
  • never hide your keys in an obvious spot
  • set your alarm if you have one
