HOLYOKE, Mass. (WWLP) – On Saturday night an all-day community block party was held in Holyoke.

Celebrate Holyoke attracted crowds in the hundreds and people from across western Massachusetts. Held in Heritage Park, Celebrate Holyoke featured more than 60 performers, artists and vendors.

The police blocked off parts of High and Heritage Street for the event’s main attractions 1,000 foot slide where people could literally slide the city.

Lisa Totz of Westfield told 22News, “I came to celebrate Holyoke because I think it’s a great way to showcase the community. I don’t know heritage Park, I’ve never been to the Merry-go-round. I think it’s a great way to see the area and bring people together and to see what Holyoke has to offer.”

Whether it was sliding, eating, checking out the Merry-go-round, the Volleyball Hall of Fame or the Children’s Museum, families told 22News they had a great time.

Celebrate Holyoke continues from 11-7 Sunday.
