SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The beginning of school is quickly approaching, many students in western Massachusetts go back to class on August 31st, some start as soon as this week.
Many stores carried sales from the tax weekend over into this weekend.
According to the National Retail Federation, the average family spends 600 dollars on students under 12 each year and that number jumps to 900 when its’s a college student.
22news spoke with one parent who said she may have done her shopping to0 late this year. “We had a hard time finding his size so I feel like we’re a little late shopping. We normally try to get it done a little earlier but because he grows so quickly we don’t want to do it too early,” said Cheryl Emanuel of East Longmeadow
The National Retail Federation also said consumers plan to spend more than 20 billion dollars on back-to-school shopping this year.
