WESTFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The Department of Public Health has confirmed Monday night that there are cases of Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus at the Westfield Youth Service Center.
The center is located on East Mountain Road. Scott Zoback, spokesperson for the MassDPH told 22News there is a cluster of MRSA skin infections. At this time he cannot confirm the exact number of cases.
Zoback did say though, these cases are not invasive at this time. So, the affected individuals do not pose a threat to their peers if these infections are properly treated and covered.
