AMHERST, Mass. (WWLP) – As of Saturday, if you’re going to buy a pack of cigarettes in the town of Amherst, you’d better be at least 21 years old.
The Amherst board of health recently raised the cigarette buying age from 18 to take effect this weekend. The Amherst board of health decision followed by four months the identical action taken in the Franklin county town of Greenfield.
The new Amherst tobacco regulation taking effect also prohibits selling any tobacco products within 500 feet of a school. Any vender violating the revised ordinance could lose their permit to sell cigarettes.
