SPRINGFIELD, Mass (WWLP) — More than 5,000 residents in need are at Riverfront Park in Springfield Saturday morning for the Convoy of Hope outreach event.
The Convoy of Hope is a national nonprofit that holds between 30 and 40 events each year in places with high poverty rates, and this weekend they’re holding outreach event at Riverfront Park in Springfield.
Saturday morning, more than 5,000 residents are expected to receive free lunch and groceries, health screenings, haircuts, family portraits, job services, and shoes for children.
This event is all about helping those in need and more than 2 thousand volunteers will provide goods and services to thousands of residents in need.
Live music and entertainment will also be offered throughout the morning, and at 11:00, mayors from Springfield, Chicopee, Agawam, and Holyoke will be there to read a proclamation.
Saturday’s event follows similar outreach events that were held earlier this summer in Minnesota, Kansas, and Missouri.
Gates opened at 10:00 Saturday morning.
