Windsor Locks police official resigns after being arrested

The charges are related to trying to cash a stolen lottery ticket

WINDSOR LOCKS, Conn. (WTNH) – A Windsor Locks police official has stepped down after being accused of stealing a lottery ticket.

Police Commission Chair Michael Royston has just resigned. Jail records show he was arrested in Florida. The charges are related to trying to cash a stolen lottery ticket. The Tallahassee Democrat says the ticket was worth over half a million dollars.

The paper is reporting it was stolen from Royston’s niece in Florida. Royston says he didn’t do anything wrong.
