(NBC News) – Arlington Police asked the FBI to help investigate the death of a black college student killed by a white police officer.
Surveillance footage shows 19-year-old Christian Taylor vandalizing a vehicle at a car dealership in Arlington early Friday.
He’s seen punching a window and kicking the front windshield.
Police responding to a burglary call found Taylor inside the building and say he refused orders to lie down.
There was some kind of confrontation, and a rookie, who was still in field training, shot Taylor.
The Arlington Police Chief has asked the head of the FBI’s Dallas field office to take part in the investigation.
Taylor, an Arlington native, was a sophomore at Angelo State University in west Texas.
He was a defensive back on the football team.
