SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Springfield families are delighted with the cities decision to extend the swimming season at Springfield’s five mile pond.
On Friday Mayor Domenic Sarno decided to keep the recreational area open during all of next week instead of just on weekends as the summer winds down. Joseph Guzman and his family believe the mayor made a wise choice.
“I think it’s close, it’s cheap, it’s very comfortable I mean not that many people show up here, it’s good for the kids you know enjoy the breeze, you don’t have to go far said,” Guzman of Springfield.
But after the coming week, five mile pond will just be open on weekends until the Labor Day weekend.
