Community block party held in West Springfield

Communities throughout WMass have hosted a "National Night Out" event

WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Hundreds of people gathered on the Town Common, Friday night, for the West Springfield Police Block Party. They served hamburgers and hot dogs, and had activities for the kids, including a bounce house and letting the little ones sit on a police motorcycle.

They also provided child identification kits for parents. “I like the fact that they have the finger prints for the kids here. That was really nice. It makes me feel safe here,” said Adelvi of Springfield.

Also, during Friday’s event, a couple of good-natured cops got wet in a dunk tank.

The purpose of the police community block party was to establish positive connections between the police, residents and their children in West Springfield.
