Water restored at Chicopee condos after water line break

CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – Maintenance workers fixed a break in the waterline, Friday night, at the Doverbrook Estates on Partridge Lane in Chicopee.

Chicopee Water Department Superintendent Al Starzyk told 22News earlier Friday that a private water line to Doverbrook Estates condominiums broke at around 2:15 Friday afternoon. The line connects the complex with the main water supply for the city.

A sign at the front entrance read that the water was shut off in an emergency. 22News called the front office at Doverbrook Estates to see how many people have been impacted in this 560 unit condominium, but we didn’t get a response.

The water was shut off so contractors could make the necessary repairs. Residents were without water for several hours.

During the worst of the water break, Starzyk said the city crews had tried to shut down some valves in order to minimize the impact of the break, but they weren’t successful.
