SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (Mass Appeal) – Meet Mass Appeal’s pet of the week!
Dakin Humane Society
171 Union Street, Springfield
163 Montague Road, Leverett
(413) 548 – 9898
Age: 9 years old
Nena is a plucky little lady who needs and deserves a sweet second chapter in her life. She came to Dakin as a stray with some medical issues, and we have given her a lot of care and attention to make her a wonderful companion. If you have kids, it would be best if they met Nena first, and the ideal household environment for her would be a little bit active, but not too much. If you’ve never had a dog before, she’s an ideal first pet. Nena loves to take leisure walks, cuddle, share the couch, play with toys, hike and fetch.
UPCOMING EVENTS AT DAKIN
Dakin’s Got Class(es) – You can, too! In the month of August, we’ll be holding lots of different dog training classes including:
- Rocket Recall (a 3-week course that teaches your dog to come when called)
- Loving Leash Walking (a 3-week course that results in better leash walking, no more pulling and dragging!)
- Scent Works for Dogs, Level 1 (a 6-week course that develops a dog’s natural scenting abilities by using his desire to hunt and his love of toys, food and exercise)
- Basic Family Dog (a 6-week class to cover the basic of good dog behavior; having your dog pay attention to you despite distractions, beginner level loose leash walking, teaching your dog to sit, lie down, stay, come and more)
These classes are all beginning in the month of August at any of our three teaching locations: Dakin’s Springfield & Leverett locations, plus Dave’s Soda & Pet City in Hadley. Please visit www.dakinhumane.org and go to “Dog Training” for specific course information. Or call 413.781.4000 x 129.
Primp Your Pit – In the month of August, Dakin will be providing a limited number of spay/neuter surgeries for pit bulls for only $20, thanks to a grant from PetSmart Charities. Call our Spay/Neuter Clinic at 413.781.4019 to book your August appointment, and your pittie will get a free nail trim as well! Why pit bulls specifically? Because they’re the breed found most often at our shelters, and we want to curb unwanted litters.
