Two Springfield men face heroin charges after a drug raid

Nearly 700 bags of heroin and 2 handguns were found

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Police seized guns and drugs from a house on Carew Street after a drug investigation and surveillances in Springfield.

Springfield Police Sgt. John Delaney said, at around 10:00 p.m. Tuesday, the Narcotics Division raided a house at 746 Carew Street; 25-year-old Kareem Nesbeth and 22-year-old Jonathan Hernandez were arrested.

Sgt. Delaney said officers seized 676 bags of heroin, two handguns, one sawed-off shotgun, 23 grams of pure heroin, cocaine, and ammunition.

Lt. Alberto Ayala led the investigation after police received reports of large amounts of heroin and cocaine were being dealt from the house. Sgt. Delaney said during the surveillances, customers were arrested after buying large amounts of “illegal narcotics.”

Kareem and Jonathan are facing the following charges:

  • Distribution of Heroin
  • Possession of Ammo
  • Trafficking in Cocaine
  • Possession of Firearm in a Felony (3 Counts)
  • Possession of a Sawed-Off Shotgun
  • Possession of Firearm With Obliterated Serial Number
  • Carrying a Firearm W/O a License
  • Trafficking in Heroin

Both men were held overnight and arraigned Wednesday in Springfield District Court.
