Firefighters put out fire at an auto shop in Hatfield

State fire marshals are investigating the cause of the fire

HATFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Firefighters were called to 8 Linseed Hill Road in Hatfield, Wednesday afternoon, where a fire damaged a building at Quality Automotive, an automotive shop right on the Hatfield and Northampton line.

Edwin McGlew, the public information officer for the Hatfield Fire Department, told 22News the fire department got the call at around 2:45 p.m. and arrived within minutes. McGlew said state fire marshals are investigating what caused this fire.

Hatfield FireIt is unconfirmed how many people were inside at the time of the fire, but fortunately, there have been no reports of any injuries.

Fire departments from Hatfield, Northampton, Whately, Conway, Deerfield and South Deerfield were called in to put out the fire. McGlew said that because this is a remote area and there aren’t a lot of fire hydrants out there, each fire truck had to come with a water shuttle to bring in enough water to put out this fire.

Linseed Hill Road was closed, as well as Coles Meadow Road in Northampton, while firefighters worked on the fire.
