CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – Crowds of Chicopee residents celebrated their city’s 21st National Night Out at Sarah Jane Sherman Park Monday night.
The event is designed to help prevent crime by starting conversations in communities between residents and their police officers. Monday night’s activities included the city’s annual flashlight parade, a soccer tournament, and plenty of activities for the kids.
Angela Gonzalez of Chicopee told 22News events like this are the reason she feels safe in her community. She said, “I’ve never felt safer, especially here now. If you’ve seen online lately, and its cops going against people and its crazy and its madness, and you don’t feel safe anymore. I’ve never felt safer than living here in Chicopee.”
Tuesday night is National Night Out Against Crime. 22News will tell you everything you need to know about events in Springfield and Agawam starting at 4:30 A.M. Tuesday.
