WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The continuing work on the Memorial Avenue Rotary in West Springfield will lead to detours Monday night into early Tuesday morning. The work will be taking place between the hours of 7:00 P.M. and 5:00 A.M.
Workers need to pour concrete on the bridge that carries the eastbound half of the rotary over Route 5. As a result, traffic on Route 5 northbound and southbound will not be allowed to go through the underpass, and instead will be forced to exit at Memorial Avenue, re-entering Route 5 through the onramps from the rotary.
Drivers traveling eastbound on Memorial Avenue will not be able to reach the Memorial Bridge directly. Instead, they will have to get onto Route 5 southbound, get off at the exit for the Agawam Rotary (Route 57), and then re-enter Route 5 going northbound, exiting for the bridge. The same is true for people hoping to access the Memorial Bridge from Route 5 southbound.
