Missing Amtrak passenger’s body found along tracks in Westfield

Amtrak, District Attorney, Westfield Police all investigating woman's death

WESTFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The body of a woman reported missing from an Amtrak train was discovered along the tracks in Westfield over the weekend.

Westfield Police Capt. Hipolito Nunez told 22News that that the woman’s body was discovered shortly before 8:00 Saturday night by the CSX tracks near Pochassic Street. Nunez said that Amtrak had reported a passenger missing from a train, and it was later confirmed it was indeed that woman.

The woman’s identity, and additional information about her death were not immediately available. Nunez said that Amtrak and the Hampden County District Attorney’s Office are involved in the investigation with Westfield police.

The Amtrak Police Department is working with the Massachusetts State Police investigating the body of a female that was found along the tracks Saturday evening. There was a report of a missing person from Amtrak Train 448, which operated from Albany to Boston. The body has been identified as the missing passenger.
