GREENFIELD, Mass (WWLP) — The 32nd annual Greenfield Lightlife Triathlon is on Saturday.
This triathlon begins at 8:00 am at the Green River in Greenfield. This is the longest running triathlon in New England, and includes running, swimming, and biking.
This is also a special year for the Greenfield Lightlife Triathlon. The historic Eunice Williams covered bridge is a part of the course again. A bridge they haven’t been able to use for the past three years, after it was destroyed in 2011 during hurricane Irene.
All of the proceeds will go toward the Greenfield Recreation Department. Over the years the Greenfield light life triathlon has raised thousands of dollars to support the recreation departments programs.
The entire course of this race is in the back roads of Greenfield, which means there will be a couple of road closures until noon.
Nash’s Mill Road and Eunice Williams Drive will be closed completely. Leydon Road, Green River Road, Plain Road, and Colrain Road will remain open, but since they’re a part of the course, police are asking you to take it slow.
