Arrest made in Pittsfield shooting

The shooting killed one and hospitalized another

PITTSFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Pittsfield authorities say a man has been arrested in connection to a shooting in the city on Friday.

According to Berkshire District Attorney David Capeless, police in Utica, New York arrested 18-year-old Thomas Lee Newman, Jr. of Pittsfield on Sunday, along with federal investigators. Capeless said Newman will be charged as a fugitive from justice in a Utica court.

Local authorities will seek Newman’s rendition back to Pittsfield, where he will be charged with murder and armed assault with intent to commit murder.

The shooting left 18-year-old Keenan S. Pellot, Jr. dead. A 17-year-old was also hospitalized from the shooting; he is expected to survive.
