State Police searching for suspect who shot at Trooper

Trooper says he saw the suspect run into the woods.

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (WWLP) – State Police are searching for a suspect who shot at a trooper’s cruiser while he was on patrol in Foxborough.

Police say the suspect left behind a black powder rifle, commonly used for hunting. They found the weapon near the area where the shot was fired, just after 2:00 Thursday morning.

The trooper said he heard the shot and saw white smoke. He said when he turned around, he saw the suspect running into the woods. The trooper was not injured.

Police are searching for the suspect with help from a State Police helicopter and Police Dog Unit.
