Medical helicopter called in following Belchertown car crash

BELCHERTOWN, Mass. (WWLP) – One person was taken to the hospital by medical helicopter, following a car crash in Belchertown early Friday afternoon.

According to a Belchertown police news release, they received a 911 call at around 12:30 P.M. about a single-car crash on George Hannum Street, not far from the Granby line. The car was on its roof, and the driver was trapped inside.

Belchertown police say that the driver of the car suffered serious injuries, and had to be flown to UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester. There is no word at this time on the driver’s condition.

Belchertown police, the Northwestern District Attorney’s Office, and Massachusetts State Police are looking into the cause of the crash.
