SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – We’re just at the start of a three year construction project on I-91 in Springfield.
The work on the elevated highway has started and lanes closures are fluid at night right now. MassDOT highway administrator Tom Tinlin told 22News they are keeping a very close eye on the contractor’s work.
He said, “We’ve already had the contractor in and explained to them they’re going to be under a whole new level of scrutiny than any other project that we have had, to find out exactly where they are and hold them accountable to the timelines.”
The contractor, JF White could receive $9-million in bonus if they finish in February 2018 and they will be penalized $50,000 a day if they finish past august of 2018.
