SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – On Friday, the community will have a chance to show their support of the local Marine killed in the Tennessee shootings one week ago.
If you want to show your support to Gunnery Sergeant Thomas Sullivan and the Sullivan family, you are asked to stand along Sumner Avenue at 5:45 Friday evening as the procession passes by carrying Sullivan to the funeral home.
Springfield Police are working with the family to organize the procession. They ask that you park off of Sumner Avenue if you plan on attending.
The family is encouraging the community to bring their American flags to show their support.
Sullivan was one of the five military service members killed in last Thursday’s shootings in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
On Sunday, at the Sampson’s Chapel of the Acres Funeral Home in Springfield, there will be calling hours from 1:00pm to 5:00pm. On Monday, the public is asked to line up along Sumner Ave. once again for funeral procession leaving Holy Cross Church on Plumtree Road at around noon.
Monday morning’s funeral is not open to the public. The family asks that only family, friends, fellow Marines, and invited dignitaries attend.
