Fire in downtown Westfield leaves family homeless

Everyone in the apartment was safely out of the building

WESTFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – A fire in downtown Westfield forced people from their home Friday.

Westfield Fire Captain Paul Lentini told 22News the fire started in the attic of the building on Elm Street just before 5:00 p.m. Friday evening.

He said everyone in the apartment was safely out of the building before firefighters got there. Captain Lentini believed it was an electrical fire.

22News called the Red Cross to see if they are helping the victims, but we’ve yet to hear back.
