Construction in Longmeadow slowing traffic significantly

Crane said this fall the state is paying to have Converse repaved from Route 5 to Dwight Road

LONGMEADOW Mass. (WWLP) – It’s a slow ride for drivers in Longmeadow these days; construction work on Converse Street is having the same effect as speed bumps.

Town manager Stephen Crane told 22News crews are doing some sinkhole repairs and also some mill and overlay work.

A patch job completed last year didn’t hold up, causing the road to be uneven. Neighbors complained the uneven road made trucks and traffic extra noisy.

While the work is being done, cars have to almost come to a stop as they drive over ‘dips’ in the road. Crane said this fall the state is paying to have Converse repaved from Route 5 to Dwight Road.
