SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Springfield police believe that two 18 year-olds who allegedly broke into a Springfield elementary school were planning on vandalizing the place.

According to Springfield Police Sgt. John Delaney, Edgar Berrios and Brittany Murphy, both of Springfield, were caught shortly before 1:00 Tuesday morning at the Kensington Avenue School. Delaney says that police received the report of the break-in, and once at the school, noticed that a rear door had been forced open.

Searching the building, Delaney says they found Berrios and Murphy in one of the offices, playing on the computers and going through the desks. The two had backpacks, which contained spray paint. Delaney says that police think they were going to spray graffiti.
