SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Retailers across the U.S. are preparing bigger inventories with hopes that you’ll be spending more this fall.
You might feel like you’ve just started to enjoy your summer vacation with your kids, but retailers can’t wait for it to be over, and the back-to-school start up.
According to the National Retail Federation, May saw the biggest increase in consumer spending in almost six years. Retailers hope those trends will continue through back-to-school shopping, parents and teachers seem to spend more and more each year.
Springfield Central High School teacher Susan Barry told 22News, “It’s an expected part of the trade that you’ve got to have some things to work with. Can’t expect the school to do everything. As the teacher, I need the things I need to run my classroom.”
Believe it or not, another NRF report suggests a quarter of parents have already started shopping here and there for the upcoming school year. Online shopping tends to peak in August.
