Monson received a grant for green projects

MONSON, Mass. (WWLP) – The Town of Monson was awarded nearly $200,000 for green projects around the community.

The grant money will help Monson with eco-friendly projects as well as reduce overall costs.

According to the Town Administrator, the projects funded include:

  • Quarry Hill Community School — Pipe Insulation
  • Quarry Hill Community School — Interior and Exterior LED Lighting Retrofit
  • Quarry Hill Community School — Variable Frequency Drives; Cafeteria and Gym
  • Granite Valley Middle School — Weatherization Improvements
  • Granite Valley Middle School — Pipe Insulation
  • Granite Valley Middle School — Interior and Exterior LED Lighting Retrofit
  • Fire Station — Interior and Exterior LED Lighting Retrofit
  • Highway Garage — Interior and Exterior LED Lighting Retrofit
  • Water and Sewer Building — Weatherization Improvements
  • Water and Sewer Building — Interior and Exterior LED Lighting Retrofit
  • Senior Center — Interior and Exterior LED Lighting Retrofit
  • Town Hall & Police Station — Plug Load Controllers

In 2011 Monson was hit by a damaging tornado. The town is still rebuilding.
