Pig organs likely what was found in Home Depot parking lot

WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – It’s likely that it was pig organs that were found in the West Springfield Home Depot parking lot on Friday.  West Springfield police Captain Daniel Spaulding told 22News the medical examiners office confirmed the liver was from a pig.  He added they are still doing some tests on the heart found, but it is also likely from a pig.

The organs, identified as a “possible heart and a possible liver,” were left in a shopping cart in the Home Depot parking lot on Friday.  One of them was in a plastic shopping bag.  One was not.  A section of the parking lot was closed off with yellow police “caution” tape around the cart in question Friday afternoon at about 2 o’clock.

“There’s concern they might be human, so we shipped them to the Medical Examiner’s office in Holyoke,” West Springfield Police Detective Captain Daniel Spaulding told 22News on Friday.  “We don’t believe they’re from a person, but we’re not sure.”

Captain Spaulding said investigators looked at surveillance video recordings, and searched the area. He described the situation as “more suspicious than criminal.”
