July 4th festivities across Western Mass

CHICOPEE, Mass (WWLP) — East Longmeadow is holding their annual Independence Day festivities, including the 4th of July parade which begins at 10:00 Saturday morning. The parade route begins at the high school and goes through the center of town onto North Main Street, ending at Birchland Park Middle School.

Star Spangled Springfield at Riverfront Park starts at 7:00 Saturday night, and the fireworks begin around 9:30.

Amherst is holding their firework display at the UMass McGuirk Stadium. Those will be at 9:30 tonight. But earlier, starting at 5 Saturday afternoon, there will be many events including a kids’ hay hunt, family field races, corn husking contest, pie eating contest and music. There’s a 5 dollar event parking fee.

And in North Adams, fireworks will kick off at 9:30 over at Joe Wolfe Field.

Saturday is also the Monson Summerfest. From 8:30 Saturday morning to 5:00 in the afternoon, there will be a shuttle bus for people to get to Main Street, which is closed for the event. The parade is at 10:00  Saturday morning down Main Street. The street will be lined with booths and there is a racing car display, and a beer garden with musical performances this afternoon.

The Mohawk Trail concerts celebrates Charlemont’s 250th birthday this weekend with Jazz on the Rive at 4:00 Saturday afternoon.
It’s free and held by the Deerfield River at the bridge in Charlemont. If it is raining, it will be in the Federated Church on Route 2 in Charlemont.

The 104th Fighter Wing out of Barnes Air National Guard Base in Westfield is flying F-15 Eagles over three cities and towns to support Patriotic events this weekend. They’ll fly in formation over Salem and Rutland as well as over the Boston Pops 4th of July concert in Boston.

This whole weekend, active and retired military members will get into Six Flags New England for free for their Fourth of July celebrations, with a valid ID. And there will be fireworks Saturday and Sunday night at 9:30.
