HAMDEN, Conn. (WTNH) — A body wrapped in plastic has been found near parts of an explosive device in Hamden. Police were called to Wintergreen Avenue around 11 a.m. Saturday on a report of an explosion.

Officials haven’t said if the body is connected to the explosive, but say there is evidence of an explosion nearby and that the case is being investigated as a homicide. A bomb squad has deemed the area safe. Police say there is no danger to the public.

According to authorities, officers are on the lookout for a gold- or champagne-colored, 2000-2010 Nissan Altima. They say the car does not have a front license plate, but a Florida plate on the back ends with a “9”.

Police describe the occupants as olive-skinned males about 5’9″ tall and 175 pounds. They say both the driver and passenger wore tan flannel shirts and sunglasses. The driver was also wearing an ear-length wig.
