Star Spangled Springfield Celebration

SPRINGFIELD Mass (WWLP) — Star Spangled Springfield is held every year on the 4th of July. An event that attracts of hundreds of residents to Riverfront Park each year to watch the city’s firework display.

road closures22News is working for you with road closures that’ll be in effect this Saturday. Police closed down Memorial Bridge Friday night, and the bridge will remain closed until 11:00 Saturday night, and that’s for both drivers and pedestrians.

Around 7:30 p.m., State Police will also shut down surrounding streets, including Exit 7 off of I-91, which leads up to the bridge.

If you do have to drive south-bound while the closure is in effect, you can take the North End Bridge instead, and get off at Exit 11 on Birnie Ave.

If you plan on going to Star Spangled Springfield, keep in mind no bikes, skateboards, roller-blades, pets, or alcohol will be allowed on Riverfront Park during the show.

Star Spangled Springfield kicks off at 7:00 Saturday night, and the fireworks begin around 9:30 p.m. 22News is a proud sponsor of Saturday night’s festivities, and 22News meteorologists’ Nick Bannin and Jennifer Pagliei will emcee the events from Riverfront Park.
