“There are many people who can’t go away can’t go to the beach can’t go to the cape and what have you. This is their celebration and that’s why we do it, we do it for them,” said Matt.
22News was also here to help celebrate, StormTeam meteorologists Jennifer Pagliei and Nick Bannin emceed the event and entertained people of all ages many who continue to come back year after year.
“I’ve been here before, it’s really fun to watch the fireworks and it’s amazing to see how they look very nice,” said Nickeva Silvera of Springfield.
Not only did Riverfront Park fill up with people from the city and surrounding towns, but 22News spoke with people like Emalee Socolosky, who came as far as Washington DC to see the firework show.
“We learned about it just by looking for firework events in the area and this one seemed to be the most fun event that was close by to drive to,” said Socolosky.
The night would not have been complete without fireworks put on by Grucci who showcased their pyrotechnic skills to music. Spectators saw fireworks of all shapes and sizes including smiley faces and stars.
