SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Two brothers charged in connection with the city’s 13th homicide of 2015 are being held without the right to bail.

Twenty-five year-old Erik Rivera and his 27 year-old Yeyson Rivera both pleaded not guilty during their arraignments Wednesday afternoon in Springfield District Court. They were arrested Tuesday night after a 20 year-old man was shot in the chest, while another man was shot in the hand and back.

Springfield Police Sgt. John Delaney says that the shooting took place at Prospect and Massasoit Streets in the North End. Someone was trying to bring the 20 year-old victim to the hospital, but he collapsed on Allendale Street, where he died. The other victim received treatment in the hospital, and is expected to survive.
