CHARLEMONT, Mass. (WWLP) – A regional hazardous materials team was called to a house in Charlemont Wednesday morning, following the discovery of a mysterious substance sent through the mail.

State Trooper Nicole Morrell told 22News that troopers from the Shelburne Falls barracks, as well as Charlemont firefighters, and the regional haz-mat team were called to 2155 Route 2 at around 10:30. Morrell said that someone at that address discovered something resembling a white powder through the mail.

As of 12:45, most of the troopers had left the home, but Hampshire-Franklin detectives are still looking into the matter.
