CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – After heavy downpours and frequent lightning moved through western Massachusetts early Wednesday morning, we’re seeing sunshine and drier weather into this early afternoon. Temperatures should quickly warm into the upper 70s and low 80s adding to some instability in the atmosphere.
An approaching cold front will provide the focus for some redeveloping thunderstorms this afternoon into early this evening. A few storms may be strong or severe during the second half of the day, but at this point widespread severe thunderstorms are not likely. The main concerns for these afternoon and early evening storms will be for heavy downpours and lightning, but damaging winds and possibly hail will also be worth watching.
1-3pm: Isolated thunderstorms possible.
3-7pm: Scattered storms likely. A few could be strong or severe.
By 7pm tonight I expect we’ll be dry with lowering humidity through the night.
Send any reports or photos of flooding or damage to firstname.lastname@example.org, but make sure to do it safely.
We’re tracking the storms as they could have a big impact on your morning commute twice every half hour during the Today Show.
