LEEDS, Mass. (WWLP) – 60 apartments will soon be under construction on the grounds of the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Leeds.
The organization “Soldier On” is working with the VA and the Mayor of Northampton to eliminate homelessness among vets. Many of the Nearly 200 veterans in transitional housing on the VA grounds hope to quality for one of the permanent housing units expected to be finished in the fall.
Mark Wagoner of Leeds told 22News, “It means a lot of to me, okay because I bumped around for a lot of years, depressed suicidal.”
Wagoner knows because of his past problems with addiction, he has to live close to the VA medical center for continued care.
