Two people stabbed at house party

SPRINGFIELD, Mass (WWLP) — Police are investigating a stabbing after they say a party became violent in Springfield early Saturday morning.

Police told 22News that the house party came to an end when two people were stabbed on Manhattan Street in Springfield. The area is adjacent to Alden and Marshall Street, near the Spring of Hope Church.

Springfield Police Lt. Richard LaBelle told 22News neighbors reported numerous complaints about the house party shortly after 2:30 Saturday morning. Around that same time, a shotspotter was also activated nearby.

Police say when they got to the house, they didn’t find any evidence of a shooting, but two people had been stabbed. It’s too early in the investigation to release information on the victim’s identities but we can tell you both were taken to Baystate Medical Center, one with serious injuries.

That victim was in surgery early Saturday morning. There is no word as to whether that person is expected to live. The other victim was also rushed to the hospital, but is expected to be okay.

A woman who was at the party later arrived at the hospital by private car. Police said she apparently was hit or struck her head.

No word on whether police have any suspects in mind, because police received very little information from people at the party when the stabbing occurred.
