SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Nearly 4,000 square dance enthusiasts from all over the world are spending four days at the Mass Mutual Center in Springfield square dancing.
Organizers of the 64th annual National Square Dance Convention estimate they will have spent 25 hours on the dance floor swinging their partners by the time they leave Sunday morning.
Nancy Koos of Conifer, Colorado told 22News that she has set aside time to get to know western Massachusetts.
“Just walking the streets, to feel New England; it’s not Colorado! Looking for museums looking for history, what I can learn, what I can feel when I’m here,” Koos said.
The square dancers’ convention is expected to generate $2 million in spending by the conventioneers by the time they leave the city this weekend.
