MASHANTUCKET, Conn. (WTNH) — Criss Angel and his crew are known for pushing the limits, but pushed it a little too far in a practice run at Foxwoods on Wednesday.

Escape artist Spencer Horsman was trying to escape a glass box filled with water during “submerge” trick, but blacked out while under water. Angel and others frantically worked to get Spencer out before it’s too late. He says Spencer blacked out while performing the same trick in Las Vegas in May.

“He was supposed to pick his way out of 12 padlocks, chains, leg irons, handcuffs, and emerge on top. His body just gave way. He was locked in there and wasn’t coming out,” Angel said.

Spencer is doing fine and has made a full recovery. He’ll be performing that exact same trick Friday night during their show, which is at Foxwoods for the next month.
