Emergency water shutoff caused loss of water in Chicopee

Loss of service could last for several hours

CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – Dozens of Chicopee Falls homeowners spent much of their day without water.

From 8:00 onward through the early afternoon, emergency water valve repairs impacted families in the Old Fuller Road and Sheridan Street area. Once 22News notified Jean Del Monte prior to the shutoff, she planned her day accordingly.

“I filled up the sink, I filled up the water jugs, went to the bathroom, got ready to do everything I would need water for, and then I went shopping,” Del Monte said.

By the time she returned from shopping Friday afternoon, Water Department Superintendent Alan Starzyk’s crews had already completed their work, and restored water service.
