WMass concert series begins with Rod Stewart tribute

Thousands of people brought their lawn chairs to enjoy the music in East Longmeadow

EAST LONGMEADOW, Mass. (WWLP) –  If you just listened and looked from a distance, you would have thought Rod Stewart himself was rocking the crowd at the East Longmeadow High School Field Wednesday night.

Rod Stewart tribute artist, “Rick Larrimore & Blondes Have more Fun” kicked off the 2015 East Longmeadow Rotary Concert Series.

The weather was perfect, and thousands of people brought their lawn chairs to enjoy the music, as they do, year after year.

“There are great groups that come here.  It’s great people.  And we enjoy it.  We enjoy coming out. And it’s free!!” said music lover Norma Menec from Chicopee.

A fixture at these concerts for years, 22News reporter and movie reviewer extraordinaire Sy Becker welcomed the crowd and introduced the band.

The East Longmeadow Rotary Concerts are free every Wednesday night this summer except next week.  On Friday, July 3rd, after “Trailer Trash” plays, they’ll have a fireworks display at 10:00 p.m.
