(KSEE) – Across the world, regulations on flight restrictions for drones are growing, and the wildfire-plagued areas around Fresno County, California are no different.
Cal Fire officials say they have recently seen drones flying above areas with active wildfires.
What these drone owners might not know, however, is that due to aircraft being used to survey and fight the fires, temporary flight restrictions are placed over wildfire areas.
“Some of the hobbyist drones will get up in the air and if their drone is in the air, we have to cease our air operations until we can get our hands around that,” said Steve Kaufmann of Cal Fire.
These restrictions are constantly updated, and are listed online for the general public.
