WRENTHAM, Mass. (WWLP) – A survey team from the National Weather Service has confirmed that a tornado touched down Tuesday in the town of Wrentham. The weather service says that the small tornado struck the town common, snapping tree tops, downing limbs, and uprooting at least one tree.

The agency sent out the team to survey damage in Wrentham, as well as Blackstone and Franklin, Massachusetts, and Woonsocket Rhode Island. Those communities were under a tornado warning on Tuesday, which had expanded eastward into Bristol County and later Plymouth County.

The NWS is expected to release additional details on the Wrentham tornado later Wednesday afternoon.
