Wildfire burns over one thousand acres

SANTA MARGARITA, California (NBC) – Firefighters in Southern California evacuated several people from the path of a wild fire that has burned one thousand acres of land.

The fire started Saturday afternoon in the area of Santa Margarita.

Fire Officials said they hope to have at least half of the fire contained by Sunday when an additional three hundred firefighters are expected to join the three hundred and fifty firefighters already working to contain the blaze.

Fire investigators said what caused the fire has not been determined.
