(NBC News) – Philadelphia police are searching for a gunman who fired randomly at people attending a block party in west Philadelphia.
Police say gunfire rang out around 10 p.m. and at least seven people were shot, including a toddler who was hit in the neck by a bullet.
Several other children were hurt. A police say an 11-year-old was shot twice and a 13-year-old was shot in the chest.
The other victim’s ages range from 22 to 46 years old, police say.
Lt. John Walker of the Philadelphia police department said: “it’s been chaos trying to stabilize this two-year-old on scene with the medics. We’re just getting things under control. We’re going to work through the investigative part of it and try to figure out what actually happened out here.”
Police have not released any information about the suspect or suspects responsible.
