Women share stories while in jail

CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – Women writing stories and poetry from jail were given the opportunity to share their work.

The room was packed at the Springfield Marriot this morning where Voices from Inside or VFI hosted a fundraiser to share writings from women who are currently in jail at the Woman’s Correctional Center in Chicopee.

VFI organizes writing groups and provides leadership training with the goal of empowering women.

“It really empower women to believe they have something to say, that they have the power of their voice, that they can come together and write, they are creative,” said coordinator Gretchen Krull.

VFI takes the writings and publish a book for the women.
