SPRINGFIELD Mass. (WWLP) – The Charleston Massacre touched people across the country, including here in western Massachusetts. Some of them gathered Thursday night in Springfield to remember the innocent people who lost their lives.
The Bethel African Methodist Episcopal church held a service in honor of the nine victims. The church, located on Pendleton Ave in Springfield, is an affiliate of the South Carolina AME Church.
Art Jones, a Member at Bethel AME Church told 22news there is a message people should take away from this tragedy. “I think the question lies in what did you do the day before that makes you a good person or a good Christian, or did you take it for granted and leave it for someone else to do it.”
The special service started at 6 Thursday night, where those who attended sent their love and prayers to the families of those killed.
